SANDAKAN: The Koperasi Pembangunan Tanah Pergaulan Anak Negeri Sandakan Sabah Berhad (Kopan) has reinforced its position as a driving force behind community economic development in the State.
The cooperative reported a net profit of RM415,000 per year from its large-scale poultry farming project at Batu 12, Sungai Manila, here.
The venture, which currently involves 60,000 chickens with plans to expand to over 110,000 birds, makes Kopan the first cooperative in Sabah to successfully operate commercial-scale poultry farming.
This achievement not only strengthens the cooperative’s financial standing but also creates employment opportunities for members and the local community.
Its Chairman Abdul Rahman Abdullah Salleh expressed appreciation to members for their continued support.
“This success demonstrates that the spirit of cooperation and members’ strong commitment can make the cooperative a key catalyst for socio-economic development of the local community,” he said at the cooperative’s 35th Annual General Meeting at Livingston Hotel, here, recently.
The meeting, attended by 119 members, also discussed new plans to expand business activities, including the operation of a bottled water factory.
The factory is expected to generate additional income and create more job opportunities for members and young people.
He said Kopan is committed to strengthening members’ economic position and play a vital role in local community development, in line with its vision to become a progressive and sustainable native cooperative.
