SEMPORNA: Police arrested a foreign man in his 40s for possessing methamphetamine during a raid in Kampung Sri Jaya recently.
Acting on public information, acting district police chief DSP Jaafar Hakim said a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (BSJN) and Pulau Bum Bum police detained the suspect around 11.30am on Oct 21.
A search revealed a black sling bag containing four clear packets of crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine.
He said the drugs, weighing 200.54 grams and valued at RM22,059.40, were seized as evidence for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment upon conviction.
Jaafar reminded the public that drug possession and trafficking are serious offences and urged continued cooperation to help combat the drug menace in the district.
