RANAU: The people are reminded to constantly maintain friendship and family ties, especially ahead of the coming election season.

Incumbent Karanaan Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, said people must respect their respective political leanings and not let political differences among themselves divide the unity.

He praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who engaged with world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, in Kuala Lumpur to attend the Asean Conference.

“It is not easy to invite world leaders to attend together in one venue, let alone in Malaysia. This shows that world leaders are confident in our country’s ability to maintain harmony.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“We are already on a good enough track to be known worldwide with a positive reputation. Therefore, we must maintain this, maintain unity, do not let it be damaged because of elections,” he said.

According to Masidi, Malaysia is one of the best countries to live in and Sabah is the best state in Malaysia because of its high tolerance that has resulted in strong unity.

He said there are various facilities and advantages in Sabah that cannot be obtained in other states, one of which is the free Accident Insurance Scheme enjoyed by all Sabahans.

The state government has also spent billions of ringgit to provide various learning aids that have been enjoyed by Sabah children.

“God willing, next year, we will introduce free education to all Sabah children who continue their studies at colleges owned by the Sabah Government.

“We are able to do it as a result of successfully managing our state’s finances in the best possible way. Today, we have savings of RM8.6 billion, and we are able to provide facilities to our people,” he said.

All this, he said, is the result of political stability that cannot be enjoyed if the government is constantly changed every five years.

Masidi said this when officiating the Majlis Ukwah Madani Komuniti Kampung Lipasu Baru organised by the Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM).

He welcomed the programme participants to Kg Lipasu and hoped that they would be able to enjoy the fresh natural beauty here and bring back many pictures and sweet memories from this village.

Also present were AKM Director General Datuk Dr Roslan Hussein, Nominated Assemblywoman Datuk Amisah Yassin, participants, residents and local village leaders.
