Kota Kinabalu: Five State deaf athletes will be representing Malaysia at the Deaflympics scheduled to be held in Tokyo, Japan on Nov 15-26.

The five whose names are on the list are Trisya Rafael (badminton), Azlan Kuste (athletics), Ho Choon Seong (tenpin bowling), Huwainaa Danduan (tenpin bowling) and Nor Misha (tenpin bowling).
Sabah Deaf Sports Association president Spencer Soo Kok Heng said the five, based at Kuala Lumpur training centre for almost a year, will depart for Japan early on Nov 4 to acclimatise to the cold weather before the start of competition.
He is confident that the three bowlers who will be competing in the singles, doubles, team, master final and all events will return with medals.
He also expects recent Malaysian Deaf Games (Sopma) gold medallists Trisya and Azlan to do well against the world’s bests. Trisya will feature in the singles and team event while Azlan is to take part in the 1500m, 600m and 4x400m.
