BEAUFORT: The OBG team from Sipitang emerged as champions after defeating GAB from Membakut in the final match of the 8-Corner Invitational Veteran Football Tournament held at the Beaufort town field on Saturday.
As champions, OBG took home RM600 in cash, along with a trophy and medals.
Runners-up GAB received RM400, a trophy and medals, while joint third-place teams SJ All Frenz from Brunei and Labuan Lagion FC each received RM200, a trophy and medals.
A total of eight teams from Beaufort, Kota Kinabalu, Lawas, Labuan and Brunei participated in the tournament, including OBG, ARU Veteran, BBKP, SBKK Friend FC, Veteran Kimanis, SJ All Frenz, GAB and Labuan Lagion FC.
During the opening ceremony, Risda Semaian dan Landskap Sdn. Bhd. Board Chairman and Beaufort MP Datuk Siti Aminah Aching congratulated and thanked organising chairman Abd Rahman Mohamad, who is also the manager of SBKK, for inviting her to officiate the event.
Datuk Siti Aminah expressed hope that such programmes would continue to strengthen sportsmanship and foster closer ties among players and communities.
