KOTA BELUD: A married couple lost their home and all belongings after a fire completely destroyed their house in Kampung Siasai Tamu on Saturday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 3pm, but no injuries or loss of life were reported.
Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Elge Bakuk, said they received a distress call at 3.08pm, and a team of eight firefighters, including an officer, was deployed to the scene, just two kilometres away, using a fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.
“Upon arrival, the team found that a semi-permanent house had been completely razed by the fire,” Elge said.
He added that although the fire spread rapidly, both occupants managed to escape unharmed, but none of their belongings or personal documents could be saved.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 3.14pm, preventing it from spreading to nearby houses. The operation ended at 3.58pm.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
