Kota Kinabalu: State athletes shined for the country at the just concluded 2nd SEA Deaf Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Malaysia clinched the overall title with a record 25 gold medals in addition to 16 silvers and 11 bronzes.
Sabah’s gold medal contributors were Azlan Kuste (Men’s 800m, 1500m, 4x400m), A. Aidil Asyraff Juakim (Men’s 4x400m) and Ali Uwais Mohd Redzuan (Men’s 4x400m) in athletics.
The other golds came from tenpin bowlers Ho Choon Seong (Men’s doubles, trio, masters), Huwainaa Dandun (Women’s trio) and chess player Ainnur Asyikin Jupineh @ Juppe (Women’s standard, Mix rapid, Women’s Blitz).
The silver medallists were Steffy Stacy Lakim (Athletics - Women’s 100m), Aidil Asyraff (Men’s 800m, 1500m), Ho Choon Seong (Bowling - Men’s singles), Zuriana Roslan (Bowling- Women’s trio, Women’s master), Nor Misha Nathera Mackery (Bowling - Women’s trio) and the women’s futsal team members - Mary Pamela Sylvester, Annzie Benedicy and Jc Ezra Grace Jerial.
The bronze medal winners were the men’s 4x100m team (Azlan Kuste, A. Aidil Asyraff Juakim and Ali Uwais Mohd Redzuan), Ho Choon Seong (Bowling - Men’s all events), Huwainaa Dandun (Bowling - Women’s doubles, all events), Zuriana Roslan (Bowling - Women’s doubles) and Trisya Rafael (Badminton - Mixed doubles).
Meanwhile, Sabahan Lo Fook Fah was also appointed as coach for the Futsal team.
