Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Ex-State Footballers Association (Ex-State) team returned home triumphant from a goodwill football tour to Manila, Philippines upon the invitation from the Philippine Football Federation last week.
They won their first match 4-1 against the Tuesday Night Club, featuring a selection of former varsity players from La Salle, Ateneo, UST, and San Agustin followed by a 4-0 win over the University of the Philippines (UP) Alumni Football Team the following day.

Both games were played at the Mall of Asia Sky Pitch, Pasay City Field, home for the Filipinas Women’s National Football Team.
Ex State president Datuk James Wong who led the team said the trip to Manila was not just about football.
“It was also a celebration of hospitality and friendship from the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
“Mr. John Anthony Gutierrez, the PFF President, was also present at the opening match, showing the support and commitment towards the importance of sports diplomacy.
“A delightful dinner was hosted by the PFF for us after the second game and during the gathering, I had verbally invited the PFF selection team to visit us in the near future,” said James.
