Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Wahyu Eqwal Nazrey delivered three gold and two silver medals for the country at the Asian Youth Para Games concluded at the Dubai Club for People Determination in Dubai, UAE on Saturday.
The 15-year-old competing in the Boys’ S5/SB6/SM5 category took the gold medals in the 50m backstroke, 50m and 100m freestyle, while the silvers came in the 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley.

Fellow Sabahan Sharlinie Valerie Voo Wen Qin, 17, also did well in the Girls’ S6/SB6/SM6 category by winning three silvers in 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke as well as a bronze in 50m butterfly.
Malaysia finished with 14 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals in the multi-sport event which started on December 7 for young para athletes across Asia, featuring over 1,500 athletes from more than 35 nations competing in 11 sports.
