SANDAKAN: Four churches in Libaran Parliamentary received Federal funds totalling RM 177,980 under the emergency work, repair and maintenance financial assistance programme for non-Islamic religious bodies.
Representatives of Basel Christian Church of Malaysia (BCCM) Sandakan , BCCM Sibuga, BCCM Singkang and Methodist Church Sandakan thanked Sabah MCA treasurer cum Libaran division chairman Dato’ Chin Kim Hiung for assisting to obtain the funds from National Unity Ministry.
They met with Chin to convey the message on behalf of their respective churches on Tuesday. Also present were Libaran MCA Wanita chief Chu Sau Lan and Beluran MCA division chairman Desmond Ling.
According to Chin, he had handed the application for financial assistance submitted by the churches to the then National Unity deputy minister Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker who is also MCA vice president in May this year.
“On this matter, I wish to express appreciation to Senator Ti who had extended assistance in seeking approval for the funds to the four applicants,” Chin added.
He said BCCM Sandakan and BCCM Sibuga each received RM30,000, BCCM Singkang received RM 37,980 and Methodist Church Sandakan received RM80,000 to carry out emergency work, repair and maintenance of their respective facilities.
