He was accused of deceiving Mohammad Jaidi Sarakawi, 44, into believing there was an offer to supply stationery, self-test kits and implementation capital to the cooperative, which allegedly induced the complainant to transfer the money into Syarikat An’naz’s account belonging to the accused.
The alleged offence was said to have been committed at a shop in Putatan at about noon on Nov 24, 2021, and the charge was framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction.
The court fixed June 18 for pre-trial case management and granted Muhammad bail of RM4,000 with one local surety, while ordering him to report monthly to the nearest police station, surrender his passport to the court if any, and refrain from interfering with prosecution witnesses pending disposal of the case.
