The court fixed Sept 7 and 8 for Mohd Yaakob’s defence hearing.
Mohd Yaakob is accused of touching the 17-year-old girl’s shoulder and kissing her at about 9.30pm on April 1, 2024, inside a lift at an apartment in Putatan.
The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction, while the prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis, called seven witnesses during the hearing and Mohd Yaakob, who is on bail, was represented by counsel Mohd Al Hafidz Mohd Lokman.
