RANAU: Young golfer Isran Hadimpin showed consistent action to emerge as the gross category champion at the Kaamatan Mini Golf Championship organised by the Mansau-Ansau Club which took place at the Mount Kinabalu Golf Club, here Thursday.
Isran finished the competition with a score of 76 gross strokes to beat his closest challenger, Julbbie Sani who scored 78 gross to take second place, while Hamiri Sani was in third position after closing the round with 79 gross.

For the Nett category, senior player Mohd Imran Poumin performed brilliantly when he scored nine under par (63 nett) to be crowned champion.
Sajili Satimin took second place after finishing the game with two under par, while Azrey Ramlee took third place thanks to his consistent play and managed to maintain his handicap balance until the end of 18 holes with a score of one under par.
The tournament also saw several technical prizes contested, including the longest drive award won by Anas Kibin when he hit a shot as far as 310 metres.
Meanwhile, the title of “wooden spoon” or the player in second place went to Aduka Jasnin Suman.
The prizes to the winners were presented by the Chairman of the Mansau-Ansau Club, Zainurin Sahat.
Earlier, Zainurin said that organising the tournament in a relaxed manner would not only strengthen the bonds of friendship among club members and golf enthusiasts in the Ranau district, but also serve as a platform to hone talents and improve the quality of the game of local players.
He said that such mini-tournaments are also important as a preparation field for players before participating in tournaments at a higher level.
“The organisation of tournaments like this will continue by selecting several golf courses in Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, and even abroad, in line with the name of the Mansau-Ansau club which means ‘walking’,” he said.
