Motorcyclist dies in Beluran crash

BELURAN: A motorcyclist was found dead with severe facial injuries and fractures to the nose and leg after his motorcycle reportedly skidded on its own at Km 85 of the Sapi Nangoh–Botition Road here on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at about 9.45am, when the male victim, believed to be in his 20s, was discovered unconscious by members of the public at the roadside.

He was later pronounced dead by medical personnel from Klinik Kesihatan Nangoh.

Beluran District Police Chief Supt Hasan Majid said police received a report following the circulation of a video of the accident on social media.

Preliminary investigations found that the crash involved only the victim’s motorcycle, which is believed to have skidded.

“The victim is believed to have been riding at high speed at the time of the incident,” he said in a statement, Sunday.

Further examination revealed that the victim sustained serious facial injuries, as well as fractures to the nose and leg.

“No identification documents were found on the victim, and he is suspected to be a foreign national. The body has been sent to Beluran Hospital for further action. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Hasan also urged members of the public who witnessed the incident to come forward to assist investigations by contacting the investigating officer, Insp Alpius @ Nickee, at 019-8707626 or by visiting the nearest police station.
