SEMPORNA: A baby girl, with the umbilical cord still attached, was found abandoned at a plantation in Kampung Lihak-Lihak, on April 24.
District Police Chief, Supt Tan Hiap Wah in a statement on Sunday said the baby was discovered at 7.30pm wrapped in a piece of cloth by a civilian.

The baby was handed over to the village chief before being taken to Lihak-Lihak police station and is now at Semporna Hospital.
“The baby weighing about 3kg is in stable condition and does not suffer any injury. After given treatment, the baby was handed over to the Welfare Department for further action.
“Investigation is underway under Section 317 of the Penal Code (for exposure and abandonment of a child) which provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction,” he said.
