SEMPORNA: A newborn baby girl, still with her umbilical cord, was found wrapped in cloth at an oil palm plantation in Kampung Lihak-Lihak on Friday (April 24).

Police said the baby, weighing about 3kg, was discovered around 7.30pm and later taken to Semporna Hospital, where she was confirmed safe and in stable condition. 

She has since been placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department.

The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for child abandonment.
