SEMPORNA: A 65-year-old man was injured after the van he was driving skidded off the road at Jalan Simpang Pegagau on Saturday morning.

The emergency call was received at 9.14am, with a team from the Semporna Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene about 20km away at 9.36am.

The incident involved a Foton C2 van that veered off the road on its own. The victim was found trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters used rescue equipment to extricate the man before providing initial treatment at the scene. He was later transported to Semporna Hospital via the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit for further care.

The operation was brought under control at 9.56am and fully concluded at 10.04am after authorities confirmed the area was safe.
