Kota Kinabalu: A 34-year-old security guard was charged in the Sessions Court here with physically sexually harassing a schoolgirl.
Mohd Firdaus Basir pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to the charge brought against him on Wednesday.
He is accused of hugging and kissing the cheeks of an 11-year and nine-month-old girl for a sexual purpose at about 5.50am on Jan 13 this year at a school in Tuaran.
The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction, with an additional charge under Section 16(1) carrying up to five years’ imprisonment and at least two strokes of the cane.
The court fixed June 9 for pre-trial case management, denied bail following prosecution objection, and ordered the accused to be further remanded pending the next mention.
