LABUAN: A supervisor of a convenience store here was compounded by the Labuan Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) for failing to display price tags on goods.
State Enforcement Chief Officer Amiluddin Malang said the action followed an investigation into a consumer complaint carried out on Tuesday.
He said a team of enforcement officers conducted inspections at several business premises around Labuan.
The investigation found that the premises had committed an offence under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 for not displaying price tags on items offered for sale.
“Under the Act, individuals can be fined up to RM100,000 or jailed for up to three years or both, while companies may be fined up to RM500,000,” he said.
Amiluddin reminded traders to comply with regulations requiring clear display of prices and service charges in accordance with the relevant order.
