KUNAK: A storage unit located near the Sapang building parking lot was completely destroyed in a fire on Monday afternoon.

Kunak Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohamad Omarbatha said an emergency call was received at 3.49pm, prompting the dispatch of a team led by operation commander Mohd Ridzuan to the scene three kilometres away.

Firefighters, supported by Civil Defence Force personnel, utilised two water jets from a nearby hydrant to extinguish the blaze which had razed the 600-square-foot structure.

Two vehicles parked nearby, a Ford Ranger and a Proton Persona, sustained minor heat damage, while no casualties were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
