LAHAD DATU: The 69-year-old who was trampled to death by a wild elephant at his farm, here, on Monday told family members when taking a Hari Raya photograph he was not sure he will be around for next year’s celebration.

Abdul Rahman Hakim’s words proved tragically prophetic. His son, Maslang Abdul Rahman, 38, said his father may have sensed that time was not on his side, making the Raya photograph the family’s last memory.

“During Raya, he said, ‘let’s take a photo first.’ He said he was not sure if he would be able to take one together next year,” Maslang said.

Maslang described his father as a kind and responsible man, who had also said he never wanted to fall gravely ill for a prolonged period, not wanting to become a burden to his wife and children.
