Man denies hurting victim in Papar robbery
The offence under Section 394 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which provided for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
Kota Kinabalu: A 36-year-old jobless man claimed trial to a charge of causing hurt to a labourer while robbing him.

Jul Ahmad made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, after the charge was read to him.

Jul is accused of causing hurt one Velantine Jeffry, 36, at a car park in Papar between 1am and 2.30am on Dec 11, 2024.

The charge stated that he allegedly taken away a car belonging to the Velantine’s friend and his mobile phone.

Jul allegedly committed the offence together with two other accused who had admitted to the charge and sentenced accordingly.

The offence under Section 394 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which provided for a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

The court fixed June 11 and 12 for trial of the case.

Pending the disposal of the case, Jul was released on a bail of RM6,000 with two local sureties.

Jul was also ordered to report to the nearest police station every first day of the month and reminded to not disturb or communicate with any of the prosecution’s witnesses.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution while Jul was not represented.
