Lahad Datu seen as potential rocket launch hub
LAHAD DATU: Lahad Datu has strong potential to become a strategic rocket or satellite launch site for the Southeast Asian region, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic).

He said that, if no obstacles arise over the next few years, the district could emerge as the region’s leading satellite rocket launch centre, attracting visitors including space scientists and serving as an economic catalyst.

Hajiji said studies conducted by the State Government and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia indicated that Lahad Datu is the most suitable location for the project despite interest from other states.

He added that the State Government remains committed to continuing development in Lahad Datu while prioritising the well-being of its people.
