No head injury seen at scene
KOTA KINABALU: The Coroner’s Court heard no injury was observed at the back of Zara Qairina Mahathir’s head during an initial examination at the scene.

Medical Assistant Officer Mohd Faiszal Md Saimi, 40, said the victim’s thick hair obstructed visibility, while his priority was to secure her airway and check for active bleeding.

“I could not carry out a detailed examination as I needed to ensure the airway was stable and there was no active bleeding,” he said before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.

He said he received a call from Queen Elizabeth Hospital at 3.23am on July 16, 2025, and arrived at the scene in Kinarut at 3.45am.
