PAPAR: Traffic congestion along the Sabindo–Kinarut route is expected to be eased with the commencement of the Lok Kawi Road Upgrading Project from the Sabindo roundabout to SMK Kinarut.
Papar Member of Parliament Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the RM48 million Federal-funded project is among key initiatives to address long-standing congestion affecting road users along the route.

He said the project, scheduled from March 30 this year to March 29, 2028, involves upgrading a stretch from a single carriageway to a four-lane dual carriageway to improve capacity and traffic flow.
He added that the works include a pedestrian overpass, street lighting, traffic lights, conversion of three roundabouts into signalised intersections, as well as bus stops, motorcycle lay-bys and covered walkways to schools.
Armizan said close coordination among state and federal agencies is needed to expedite land acquisition involving 43 lots and utility relocation to ensure smooth implementation without delays.
