Tuaran: Eleven residents from two families were left homeless after a double-storey house was completely destroyed in a fire at Kampung Saman, Berungis, on Monday afternoon.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred around 2.20pm.

Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Kurong Ak Beki said the department received a distress call at 2.24pm. A team of 12 firefighters in two fire engines was immediately dispatched to the scene, located some 9km from the station, arriving at 2.33pm.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found a semi-permanent house 100 per cent destroyed by the fire. A Perodua Viva parked nearby was also damaged due to heat,” he said when contacted.
Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, deploying two hose reels supplied by fire engines and drawing water from a nearby stream. The fire was brought under control at 3.01pm.
The operation concluded at 3.21pm after ensuring no further hazards remained at the site.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The affected families are understood to have lost all their belongings in the blaze, leaving them with only the clothes they were wearing at the time.
