Kota Kinabalu: Sabah para athletes captured 21 gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals to finish second overall in the Allianz-MSN-POPM 2026 National Para Athletics Circuit 1 held at the IPG Stadium, Special Education Campus, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur last weekend.
The gold medal winners were Amy Lee Renlee Kelly (T36 Women – 100m); Andrianshah Bagudan (F44 Men – Javelin, Discus); Connie Zeno (F40 Women – Discus, Javelin); Danny Hadid (T20 Men – 1500m); Eddysonisryan Roylee Jeson (F55 Men – Discus); Frederica Joirey (F41 Women – Javelin); Heronlee Wong (F37 Men – Javelin, Discus), Hilton Emmanuel (F12/T12 Men – Shot Put); Muhamad Shaban Shahid (T45 Men – 100m, 200m); Muhd Faizul Nazrin (F41 Men – Shot Put, Javelin); Nursahara Ali Hassan (F55 Women – Shot Put, Discus); Nurul Sahada Hawani (T20 Women – 400m); Paijol Benhar (T46 Men – 100m, Long Jump) and Shahzaidie Shah (T38 Men – 100m).
The silver medals were secured by Amy Lee Renlee Kelly (T36 Women – 200m); Hilton Emmanuel (F12/T22 Men – 100m, Discus); Muhamad Faqrul Nizam (F33 Men – Shot Put, Javelin); Nelvin Neno (T37 Men – Long Jump); Nur Fatin Adillah (F40 Women – Discus, Shot Put) and Shahzaidie Shah (T38 Men – 200m), while the bronze medals were delivered by Alfredo Jami (F37 Men – Javelin, Discus); Danny Hadid (T20 Men – 800m), Franco Valentine (F33 Men – Shot Put); Frederica Joirey (F41 Women – Discus); Nazwan Mohd Sharif (T46 Men – 200m); Nur Idlan Khairunnas (T12 Men – 200m) and Yezekheal Ringgilut (T46 Men – Long Jump).
The State contingent was represented by 23 athletes with 20 new faces and only three seniors in the team, while Selangor who were crowned overall champions were represented by 46 athletes with 32 of them elite athletes.
