Kota Kinabalu: A man was killed and another seriously injured after their Perodua Axia crashed into the rear of a lorry at Jalan Kionsom, Inanam, on Tuesday.

A distress call at 11.37pm prompted a rescue team from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station to the scene. 

The Axia is believed to have swerved out of control before colliding with the lorry.

The team arrived at around 11.45pm and helped extricate the victims from the wreckage. 

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene by Health Ministry officials, while the other, a 41-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital.

The 33-year-old lorry driver was uninjured. The operation concluded about 50 minutes after midnight, with police also at the scene to investigate.
