KOTA KINABALU: Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, reassured the public that Sabah’s fuel supplies remain sufficient amid recent rumours of shortages.
During a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Menara Kinabalu, he briefed on the latest findings from the High-Level Committee on Enforcement Coordination (JTPAP), which monitors smuggling and fuel leakage, especially near border areas.

Rising risks are linked to West Asia conflicts and high price gaps between domestic subsidised fuel and neighbouring markets.
Armizan clarified that reports of fuel shortages at certain stations were isolated logistical delays, often due to festive-season demand, and not an actual supply deficit.
"Continuous monitoring ensures deliveries remain on schedule. The public is urged not to engage in panic buying," he said.
He also warned that any sale or refilling of fuel outside vehicle tanks without a special permit is illegal under the Supply Control Act 1961 and related regulations.
He encouraged the public and fuel operators to report suspicious activity.
