Kota Kinabalu: The Aidilfitri Silaturahim Ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Saturday was held in a modest yet lively atmosphere, bringing together various levels of state leadership and invited guests.
Head of State Tun Musa Aman, accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, arrived at 10.22am and were received by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag.
The event began with a prayer led by Istana Seri Kinabalu Religious Officer Zulfauzy Awang Besar, before guests were treated to a variety of Aidilfitri delicacies.
Among those present were State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya; Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam; Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun; Cabinet ministers; assistant ministers; foreign consuls; and heads of departments.
The celebration was further enlivened by performances of festive songs by the Sabah Royal Malaysia Police Contingent Combo.
This was followed by a photography session with Musa and Faridah as a token of appreciation and a memento for the guests in attendance.
Earlier, Musa and Hajiji performed the Aidilfitri Sunat prayers with thousands of congregants at State Mosque.
The presence of thousands of congregants reflected the spirit of unity and gratitude in celebrating Aidilfitri in a modest and harmonious manner.
After the prayers, congregants took the opportunity to seek forgiveness and exchange greetings, further strengthening ties within the community.
