Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) plans to restructure its organisation from 74 divisions to 26, including Labuan, in a move to streamline and strengthen the party.
Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan said the move has been agreed upon by the party’s Supreme Council to ensure more organised and effective operations.
“We have agreed to restructure to enhance and strengthen the party as a pillar of the unity government in Sabah.
“Hopefully, this restructuring will bring many benefits to Gagasan Rakyat’s struggle to champion the people,” he said.
Nizam, who is also Sabah Youth, Sports and Creative Economy Development Minister, said the new structure is expected to be based on Sabah’s 25 parliamentary constituencies, along with one in Labuan.
He said the move represents a new direction for the party in strengthening operations at all levels, while making it easier to implement party activities in a more organised manner.
“When the party runs smoothly, it will complement the current ruling government.
“The relationship between the State and Federal governments will also continue to be preserved for the benefit of Sabah and its people,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the party will hold a Special General Assembly in the near future to discuss related matters, including amendments to the party constitution.
On preparations for the upcoming general election, Nizam said they will continue to defend the unity government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also the party President.
He added that the Information Bureau will strengthen its communication machinery, including plans to organise artificial intelligence (AI) courses for its information team across Sabah.
He also said an oratory competition will be organised to uncover new talent among party members in effectively conveying the government’s direction.
