KUALA LUMPUR: The Embassy of Japan in Malaysia has opened applications for the Japanese Government Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarships for the 2027 academic year.
The scholarships cover tuition, entrance and examination fees, a round-trip airfare, and a monthly living allowance of about 117,000 yen (around RM3,000) for undergraduate, College of Technology (Kosen) and specialised training college students, and 143,000 yen for postgraduate students.

Malaysian applicants can apply under four categories: undergraduate, College of Technology, specialised training college and postgraduate studies.
Undergraduate and diploma applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old by April 1, 2027 and have completed secondary education such as SPM, STPM, A-Level, UEC, matriculation or diploma.
Postgraduate applicants must be below 35 years old and hold at least a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.4.
Applications for undergraduate, Kosen and specialised training college programmes close on April 8, 2026, while postgraduate applications close on April 15, 2026.
