KOTA KINABALU: A total of 1,000 Muslim congregants participated in a “Tadarus” (Quran recitation session) and “khatam Al-Quran” (completion of the Quran recitation) programme held in conjunction with the Sabah State-Level Istiqbal Nuzul Al-Quran ceremony at the Sabah State Masjid here, recently.
The participants included federal and state civil servants, Tahfiz students, religious school students, as well as Masjid committee members from across Kota Kinabalu.
The programme commenced after the Asar prayer, with participants completing the recitation of all 30 Juzuk (sections) of the Al-Quran according to their allocated portions. The session concluded with a khatam Al-Quran prayer recited by the Imam of the Sabah State Masjid, Suhaidi Kuanting.
At the same event, the Head of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, along with his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin, presented cash contributions from the Sabah Zakat Centre and the Sabah Baitulmal Corporation (PBNS) to 20 Asnaf recipients from the Kota Kinabalu area.
After breaking fast, Tun Musa joined the congregation in performing the Maghrib prayer, followed by a special religious lecture delivered by guest speaker Ustaz Dasrizal M. Nainin titled “Gema Wahyu Ilahi.” The event continued with the Isyak and Tarawih prayers led by Suhaidi.
Also in attendance were Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Haji Noor; Sabah State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M. Yahya; Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun; and Sabah Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
