Tenom: The distribution of food basket assistance to residents affected by floods in the Melalap State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area is continuing even though all Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) were closed last Sunday.
The aid distribution is being coordinated with the Tenom District Disaster Management Committee (JPBD), the Social Welfare Department, and the DUN Melalap Service Centre to ensure it runs smoothly and systematically, especially for families still in need during the post-flood phase.

Tenom District Officer and Chairman of JPBD Tenom, Alexander Liew, said on Tuesday that assistance will continue to be delivered to all affected victims with the cooperation of various agencies, including the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Tenom, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) Melalap, the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) Lok Kawi, and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), to ensure no victim is left out.
Meanwhile, Assistant Director of Welfare for the Keningau Division, Amirah Suraip, said the assistance distributed includes packed meals as well as food baskets containing basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, and other kitchen supplies.
Basic household items including blankets and mattresses are also provided to assist victims who have returned to their homes.
For Melalap Community Development Leader (PPM), Denesly Justin expressed hope that no residents would be left out from receiving food aid and water supply assistance.
According to him, any victims who have not yet received aid may approach the Social Welfare Department, UPPM, or the District Office for further coordination.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Tumantalik, Jamrin Jair, expressed his appreciation to the Tenom District Office and the Social Welfare Department Tenom for contributing food baskets to village residents, particularly Heads of Household (KIR), as well as to UPPM for coordinating the assistance.
The assistance is being delivered directly to the homes of affected residents around the DUN Melalap area, as some victims are still facing shortages of food supplies and basic necessities after returning to their homes.
