TAMBUNAN: Swift action by firefighters prevented a Toyota Rush from being destroyed after it caught fire following an accident along Jalan Kampung Moloson here on Thursday.
The incident, which occurred at about 3.45pm, involved a vehicle carrying four individuals, including a woman, which reportedly skidded on its own before plunging into a roadside drain.
The Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station chief said an emergency call was received from a man identified as Alponsus, prompting the deployment of a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit to the scene.
“Upon arrival at the location, about 10 kilometres from the station, the team found a vehicle that had veered into a drain. Four victims were involved, with three sustaining minor injuries while the driver was unharmed.
“All victims had been extricated by members of the public before the fire department arrived.
“However, a small fire broke out in the engine compartment shortly after the impact,” he said in a statement.
