PM Anwar announced RM1,500 cash aid for each family affected by the Kampung Bahagia fire.
He said about 300 families would receive the assistance, amounting to an estimated RM450,000, to be channelled through the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department and the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).
Anwar also announced a special RM300 assistance for each Malaysian school-going child affected by the fire. The aid is expected to benefit 454 students from 12 schools.
He said the Welfare Department would expedite the provision of school uniforms, while students would be allowed flexibility in dress temporarily.
“Children must continue attending school and should not neglect their responsibilities due to this situation,” he said.
He added that additional support, including transport arrangements, would be provided for those staying at temporary evacuation centres (PPS) located far from schools.
