TAMPARULI: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leaders and grassroots members here have renewed their commitment to recapturing the Tamparuli state seat, rallying together at the “Mirumo-rumo Bersatu” programme held at the Telibong Polling District Centre (PDM).
The event, which translates to a spirit of unity and togetherness, was held to recognise the dedication of party members and machinery who worked throughout the last state election campaign, while also serving as a platform to strengthen ties within the division.
Tamparuli PBS Division Chief Datuk Seri Jahid Jahim is confident in the leadership of Dr Bonaventure Boniface, describing him as calm, patient and politically mature in facing challenges.
“The struggle cannot stop. We must remain consistent and never give up,” Jahid said, adding that the party’s previous electoral defeat should serve as a lesson to rise stronger, not as a reason to concede ground.
He called on all members and supporters to set aside old conflicts and embrace the “mirumo-rumo” spirit of unity for the sake of the party’s stability, while also urging a focused effort to attract new voters, particularly young voters aged 18 to 20, whom he identified as crucial to securing victory.
“Our main goal is clear, to take back the Tamparuli seat for PBS,” he said.

Tamparuli seat is currently held by Upko, PBS’ ally in the GRS coalition.
Meanwhile, Bonaventure, in his address, expressed gratitude to party machinery for their unwavering support throughout the last election and thanked Jahid for his significant contributions to the Tamparuli constituency, wishing him continued good health.
He also signalled his readiness to step up within the party structure, announcing his willingness to contest for the position of Tamparuli PBS Division Chief, taking into account the backing shown by Jahid.
“I am prepared to lead the Tamparuli PBS Division towards a stronger and more united direction,” he said.
Division Deputy Secretary Ronny Sundang also addressed the gathering, commending branch chiefs for their high level of commitment during the election campaign.
He noted that the Mirumo-rumo Bersatu programme has focused on visiting each of the division’s 11 PDMs, with Telibong marking the 10th stop, reflecting the party’s sustained effort to engage grassroots machinery across all areas.
Ronny also acknowledged the party machinery’s contribution in securing the second-highest vote count in the constituency and with Jahid’s support, proposed that Bonaventure be appointed as Tamparuli PBS Division Chief.
