Kota Kinabalu: Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol announced a RM10,000 grant to support the launch of the Inanam Ambulance Hotspot Service during its soft launch at the St. John Ambulance Malaysia Sabah State Headquarters on Sunday.
The grant will help cover initial operational costs for the ambulance hotspot, which aims to strengthen emergency medical response in the Inanam area.

Mordi said the initiative is a proactive step to shorten emergency response times and improve access to medical assistance for residents.
“More importantly, it helps reduce the burden on government hospital ambulance services, showcasing effective collaboration between civil society and government agencies,” he said.
Sabah State Commander Ng Ming Syoung said the Inanam hotspot will serve as a strategic partner to government hospitals by assisting with emergency referrals from nearby areas.
He said that placing an ambulance unit near high-demand zones is intended to shorten response times and provide faster medical help to patients in critical situations.
Ng added that the organisation continues to serve the community entirely through volunteer efforts.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, volunteers helped with vaccination counters and supported operations at vaccination centres.
They also travelled to remote villages in Keningau to provide home vaccination services for persons with disabilities and individuals with mobility challenges.
Sabah State Supt (Chief of Staff) Jansen Sai noted that tuberculosis cases in Sabah reached 755 in the first six weeks of 2026.
“The activation of the Inanam Hotspot is expected to further strengthen volunteer response capacity and community healthcare support,” he said.
The public requiring ambulance assistance can contact the Inanam ambulance hotline at 010-379 4911.
