Kota Kinabalu: A total of 112 illegal immigrants were deported through Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) between January and February this year, according to the Malaysia Immigration Department in Sabah.
In a Facebook statement, the department said the deportees comprised 90 adult men and 22 adult women who were previously held at the Sabah Immigration Depot.

It said all detainees had undergone legal proceedings in Malaysia and travel document verification by their respective embassies before being allowed to return to their home countries.
Among the nationalities recorded, Pakistan accounted for the highest percentage at 51 per cent, followed by the Philippines (29 per cent), Vietnam (nine per cent), China (five per cent) and Thailand (three per cent).
Other nationalities, including Laos, the United States and Indonesia, each accounted for one per cent.
