Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Retired Educators Association (PMPS) has opened new membership registration to retired teachers throughout the State to strengthen its welfare network and empower experienced educators to continue contributing to society.
Its President, Aslie Sahat, said the initiative is part of the association’s ongoing efforts to unite retired teachers so they can continue sharing their experience, expertise and service to Sabah even after leaving the education sector.
He said retired teachers play a significant role in society as a source of guidance and reference, and can act as catalysts for educational and social development based on the wide experience gained during their years of service.
“PMPS welcomes retired teachers across Sabah to register as members and work together to strengthen ties and safeguard the welfare of educators who have contributed greatly to the State and the nation,” he said in a statement, Monday.
Aslie said membership registration can be done through PMPS liaison offices in each district to make it easier for new members to join.
He added that joining the association not only strengthens relationships among members but also opens up opportunities to carry out welfare, educational and community programmes that benefit local communities.
Aslie expressed hope that more retired teachers would come forward to join PMPS so that their experience, knowledge and expertise can continue to be utilised for the ongoing development of society and the State of Sabah.
