PENAMPANG: The Kadazandusun Language Foundation (KLF) is not alone in the quest to empower and develop the various ethnic mother tongues in Sabah.
Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick said the KLF and strategic partners, namely the SIL team, linguistic consultants, technical experts and community contributors, are united in the effort to strengthen the use of mother tongues.
He said the study of Sabah ethnic languages at universities or institutes of higher learning should be supported via the provision of the Sabah State Government Scholarships (BKNS) to students who are keen to take up such studies.
“I fully support this initiative. It should be introduced to encourage more students to choose this field of study and subsequently become teachers of the subject in schools.
