Kota Kinabalu: Sabah-based trading and distribution conglomerate Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC) has appointed Datuk Dr Yatimah Sarjiman as its company director, effective Feb 20.
The appointment adds a seasoned Federal policymaker to KTC’s board, with Yatimah bringing more than three decades of senior public service experience spanning national economic planning, governance, and international affairs.

Its Executive Director, Datuk Dexter Lau, said the board was confident the appointment would strengthen the group’s strategic direction.
“Her depth of experience and policy insight will further strengthen the Board as we continue to drive sustainable growth and long-term value creation,” he said.
Yatimah’s 34-year Federal career included senior postings at the Prime Minister’s Department, where she served as Deputy Secretary-General and as Director-General of the Department of Women Development.
She also held the positions of Director of the Agriculture Division and Deputy Director of the Infrastructure and Utilities Division at the Economic Planning Unit.
Most recently, as Deputy Secretary-General (Sectoral) at the Ministry of Economy, she was involved in drafting the 12th Malaysia Plan Mid-Term Review, which was tabled in Parliament.
She also contributed to the National Energy Transition Roadmap launched in July 2023 and the National Energy Policy 2022, both central to Malaysia’s goal of becoming a low-carbon nation by 2040.
Her professional expertise covers rural development, the plantation industry, international industrial structures and women’s empowerment.
In addition to her new role at KTC, Yatimah sits on the boards of Petronas Gas Berhad, Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd, PR1MA Communications Sdn Bhd and UEM Group Berhad.
She holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting Information Systems from Idaho State University, an MBA in Accounting and Finance from Northrop University, both in the United States and a PhD from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
