INANAM: Assemblywoman Edna Majimbun called for a detailed and fact-based explanation on the actual status of the land in Kg Minintod which has become the subject of dispute between villagers and the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association.
Edna said the matter should not be taken lightly as it involves land ownership and the rights of residents, many of whom have lived in the village for years.

She stressed that any uncertainty must be addressed transparently to prevent confusion and speculation.
“If it is true that the application began in 1988, the main question that arises is why, after nearly four decades it has yet to be finalised.
“The people have the right to know what actually transpired throughout that period,” she said, Thursday.
According to her, any dealings involving land with reserve status are subject to clear and strict legal procedures.
“If the land is still classified as a Veterinary Reserve (Grazing Reserve), then the process to revoke the reserve status must first be carried out before any consideration for alienation can be made.
“This is a fundamental principle in state land administration.
“Public explanations should not be general in nature but supported by official documents and confirmation from the relevant departments.
“Transparency is key. The community should not be left in uncertainty or be made to rely on incomplete information,” she said.
Edna stressed that villagers have the right to voice their concerns peacefully when it involves land interests and the future of their community.
“I will ensure this matter is thoroughly studied. The interests of the people, especially local residents, must be prioritised and every process must clearly and transparently comply with state laws,” she said.
In recent statement KDCA Sec-Gen. Suman Yasambun said KDCA disputed the allegations regarding the KDCA’s land application in Kampung Minintod and its surrounding areas, including Kampung Bantayan, Sukang and Mabpai.
The statement also stated that the so-called “oppression” or “seizure of customary village land” were untrue, baseless and do not reflect the actual position of the matter.
Suman explained that the said land remains gazetted under the Sabah Veterinary Reserve for the use of the relevant department and is not an Indigenous Village Reserve, as portrayed by certain parties.
