PENAMPANG: A Hyundai SUV was 50 per cent damaged in a fire near Cempaka Square, here, on Tuesday night.

The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 9.30pm and a team from Penampang fire station, comprising five personnel, arrived at the scene at 9.36pm, about 4km away, with assistance from the police.

The fire, which involved the engine and dashboard area, was brought under control at 9.40pm and the operation ended at 9.50pm after firefighters used one hose reel line from the fire engine to extinguish the blaze, with no casualties reported.
