KOTA BELUD: A family of five narrowly escaped death after their four-wheel-drive vehicle skidded and plunged about 15 metres into a ravine in Kampung Pituru Laut here on Tuesday night.
The victims comprised a couple aged 44 and 40 and their three children aged between four and 10.

District Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 8.01pm.
Eight personnel were dispatched to the scene with one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services utility vehicle, and upon arrival found the Isuzu D-Max involved with all five victims already brought up to the roadside by members of the public before the team’s arrival.
All victims sustained injuries and were given initial treatment by EMRS personnel before being sent to Kota Belud Hospital for further care, while firefighters ensured the area was safe, with the operation ending at 9.07pm and the cause of the incident still under investigation.
