KOTA KINABALU: Members of Sabah’s Chinese community expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar's Rahmah Basic Contribution (Sara) programme and the additional RM20 million allocation for Chinese National-Type Secondary Schools (SMJKC) nationwide to upgrade facilities and basic amenities.
Nominated assemblywoman Grace Lee, who is also Kota Kinabalu PKR chief, said at the Lido walkabout on Sunday that the initiative was aimed at fostering stronger ties with the Chinese community.

She was joined by Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud and Lido proprietor Tan Sri TC Goh, with about 500 boxes of mandarin oranges and 3,000 calendars and New Year greetings distributed to stall owners and shoppers.
The distribution began on Saturday at shops in Damai and will conclude on Monday at Gaya Street and Kampung Air in the city centre as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with the local Chinese community.
Lee said the response was positive, with many asking for the calendar featuring the images of the Prime Minister, adding that Mustapha, as Sepanggar MP, would also organise programmes in Inanam where members of the Chinese community often visit Lido for their Chinese New Year shopping.
