Kota Kinabalu: Police have confirmed jealousy was the motive behind the murder of a 44-year-old woman whose dismembered body parts were found at several rubbish disposal sites in Indah Permai on Thursday. A man and his son have been detained.
State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the main suspect, a 70-year-old local, had been previously engaged to the victim and allegedly spent about RM7,000 on her during their engagement.

However, the marriage did not materialise and the victim then married another man, leading to resentment and dissatisfaction on the part of the suspect.
Jauteh said the victim had gone to the suspect’s family village house on the day of the incident and a quarrel is believed to have occurred before she was killed.
Police believe a parang and other sharp weapons were used, and the suspect admitted to dismembering the body.
A second suspect, a 19-year-old believed to be the victim’s son, was also detained as he was reportedly present at the house during the incident.
Jauteh said the case was solved within 24 hours of the initial discovery of body parts by a garbage lorry worker at 6.30am on Feb 12.
He was speaking to reporters after the handover ceremony of four-wheel-drive vehicles contributed by the Sabah Chief Minister at IPK Sabah, Friday.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
