KOTA KINABALU: A group of undocumented migrants was arrested in two separate enforcement operations carried out by the Sabah Immigration Department in Kota Kinabalu and Lahad Datu on Thursday.
The arrests were made during Ops Sapu in Lahad Datu, where enforcement officers inspected individuals from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, according to the department’s Facebook page.
Several foreign nationals, including adult men, women and children, were detained for suspected offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
They were arrested for not having valid identification documents, overstaying in the country and breaching the conditions of their passes.
Meanwhile, in Kota Kinabalu, Ops Jaja led to the detention of several undocumented migrants, with Sabah Immigration stating that enforcement operations will continue regularly to ensure immigration laws are strictly complied with and to curb the presence of illegal immigrants in the state.
