KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman called for unity, perseverance and shared progress in his Chinese New Year address on Monday as the Chinese community ushers in the Year of the Horse.
Extending his warmest Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community in Sabah and throughout Malaysia, he said Malaysians can stand proud of the remarkable progress the nation has achieved since independence through the dedication, resilience and unity of citizens from diverse backgrounds.

He said, despite differences, there is far more that unites Malaysians, and these shared values continue to strengthen bonds, uphold harmony and serve as the foundation of collective advancement.
Drawing inspiration from the Year of the Horse, he said the animal symbolises strength, endurance, perseverance and an indomitable spirit, representing energy, determination and the courage to move forward with confidence.
He urged the people to emulate these virtues in daily life by working diligently, remaining steadfast in the face of challenges and striving continuously towards excellence and progress.
Musa said he looked forward to meeting and extending festive greetings at open houses held in conjunction with the celebration, describing the tradition of visiting one another as reflecting the true spirit of Malaysia where people of all races and faiths live together in mutual respect and understanding.
He added that Sabah’s rich tapestry of races, cultures and religions remains its greatest strength and expressed hope that the State and its people will continue to progress and prosper for the well-being of the State and future generations.
