KOTA KINABALU: Two local men were arrested in connection with a murder following the discovery of several human body parts at a rubbish disposal area in Pekan Indah Permai, Manggatal, on Thursday, said acting city police chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman.
He said a team from the Criminal Investigation Department of Kota Kinabalu police headquarters conducted an operation in Kampung Sri Kenangan, Sepanggar, at about 4.30pm the same day after receiving information and intelligence, with witnesses reporting that the victim was seen running out of a house in a distressed state before being pulled back inside by a man.

He said a 71-year-old man was detained at the Emergency Unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital II, at about 8.10pm to assist investigations, followed by the arrest of a 19-year-old man at a unit in Taman Seri Maju Apartment, Sepanggar, at about 10.30pm for alleged involvement in the incident.
Several items were seized, including a mobile phone, clothing believed to have been worn during the incident and a gold-coloured Nissan X-Trail.
Initial investigations found the main suspect admitted involvement in the incident and stated that the motive was believed to stem from a personal dispute and demands over debt, with both suspects detained under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and investigations ongoing, while members of the public with information are urged to contact the city police headquarters or the nearest police station.
